Getting on a Plane

{London Landing}

Last year on this day I hopped on a plane and left everything behind me as I flew across the Atlantic. Thinking back, I wasn't nervous at all to get on the plane like I thought I would be. I was completely fine with it, it felt exactly right.  It would be the longest I would be from home. It would be the farthest from home I had ever been.  It would also be the first time I would literally know no one where I was going. And yet, it was totally natural and perfect.  I am so happy I made the decision to get on that plane to London. I have no regrets about going and I think it was exactly what I needed.  It's always good to get away and gain perspective.  I just have to keep in mind that it's good to get away from home and explore.  Exploration and adventures are how we learn and grow.

P.S. Do you like my new background picture? It's the English countryside from when I visited Stonehenge.

Down the Shore

{Seagull}

My family (well most of my family) went to Ocean City, New Jersey for vacation. That is where we have gone my entire life for vacation and it has a large place in my heart. It was unfortunately cloudy and storming just about every day we were there.  Which is completely fine, I love when it storms at the shore, but it was raining during the day and we barely went to the beach for three days.  The sun came out eventually though and we had some lovely time on the beach.  The water was warm and had good waves to jump.  We ate Manco and Manco’s, with Birch beer of course, plenty of times.  We had seafood, Charlie’s wings, and ice cream galore.  My mom and I even got up one morning around 5:45 to watch the sun rise..too bad it was super cloudy and you couldn’t see anything. I never thought about that before, it being too cloudy to see the sunrise.  When we were inside because of the rain we watched Olympics, synchronized swimming and rhythmic gymnastics are my favorites.  We rented a surrey for an hour and went up and down the boardwalk, got donuts and coffee.  It was an all-together relaxing time that I am happy I got to spend with my family.  It was definitely much needed and appreciated.

Sweet Dreams

I'm pretty sure I'm sick..or the last two weeks of busting my butt and not getting enough sleep have caught up with me. Either way I don't feel great and I'm going to bed and sleeping until I don't care when. Sorry for breaking my promise and not really blogging, but it just gets to build the anticipation!
Sweet dreams x.

Feast for Dinner

Boy it has been a while sine I truly blogged and many things have happened. I think the last time I properly posted anything was after my brother’s wedding.  Speaking of, I have not seen him or his wife since their wedding and I find it unacceptable. Jo if you’re reading this, you two better come find me! On another note, I threw my first party and first real sleepover, my roommate moved out officially making my apartment solely mine, I gave a presentation on a microphone to the public at the zoo, got offered a PhD position at Jefferson ;) and made a twitter account then introduced my friends to the culinary wonder that is Village Whiskey.  Oh, I also read Fifty Shades of Grey and well, I have some opinions about that to say the least.

Tonight though I felt incredibly tired for some unknown reason and spent half my day buried in a book instead of being productive.  So at about six o’clock I decided I needed to leave my apartment and put on a swingy skirt and heels to go food shopping so I could cook myself something delicious. I felt absolutely ravenous and decided that I need breakfast for dinner, so naturally I got a mocha Frappuccino to help me out while I shopped for all the food I could get my hands on.  Then I proceeded to make pancakes, eggs, bacon, and sausage.  And let me just say there was enough for more than one person and I ate every little last bit of it while my friend watched and laughed at me. Then I had hazelnut cookies for dessert.  Delicious. Sometimes, you need a feast to feel sated.

Tomorrow I will blog again, I know, shocker since I haven’t in forever.  I will spill the beans on my lovely vacation since I know you are all dying to hear about it.

Until then x.

Vacation

Today I am going down the shore with my family on vacation.  We used to do this every year, but haven't in seven years.  Saying I am excited is an understatement. But at the same time the feeling hasn't hit me since I haven't done it in so long. I just don't feel like that wonderful free feeling of vacation will hit me, but hopefully it does as soon as I smell the salt air.  I am not thinking about the giraffe paper I have to write for work, or the poster on trialanine I have to make and present in two weeks, or any other work or school thing (or trying to think about it at least). I just registered for classes and am now focusing on spending some time relaxing.  I am completely unplugging myself from the world, turning off my computer and phone and enjoying the serenity of my favorite place in the world.  Here's to surrey rides, delicious pizza, books you actually want to read, sea food, sand between your toes, and warm water to rock you to peace.
