Masked Mystique

{Festive activities}

Something that I’ve always wanted to do was go to a masquerade ball.  The idea of everyone dressing up and hiding their faces, so that they could be anything they wanted for the night has a certain kind of magic that can transport you to a fantasy world.  I happened to buy a mask from Harrods (best store ever) and then find out that my school’s student union was throwing a masquerade ball for Halloween. How perfect.  So the girls in my flat spent the day watching Double Double, Toil and Trouble, baking a Halloween cake, and carving pumpkins while our British RLS (Resident life supervisor) laughed at us Americans for acting so childish.  We then got all dressed up, masks and all and went of to the masquerade ball at the club Café de Paris.  All the girls were in dresses and the boys in suits, all with the essential face accessory.  Although it wasn’t the best party we still had a ton of fun and there was that magical air to the party.  It was a fun British Halloween, but I much prefer the holiday in America.  I’ll have to find a masquerade ball at home next year.
